JH-02A Operator’s Guide: 8 Essential Tips for Optimizing Crimping, Stripping and Tinning Production

2026 04/15

What is the JH-02A operator’s guide?

The JH-02A is a fully automatic double-end crimping and single-end tinning machine for AWG#32 to AWG#18 electronic wire. Proper operation and regular maintenance directly impact production output, defect rates, and machine lifespan. This guide provides six essential tips for operators and maintenance technicians.

Tip 1: How to correct stripping abnormalities

Problem: No blade mark on insulation

  • Solution: Increase stripper blade depth value (range 1-100, adjust in increments of 5)

Problem: Wire is cut through

  • Solution: Decrease blade depth value (reduce by 3-5 points)

Problem: Insulation does not pull off

  • Solution: Adjust wire clamp pressure or increase air pressure to 0.5-0.7MPa

Parameter reference table:

Wire gauge Blade depth (typical) Strip length range
AWG#18 45-55 3-11mm
AWG#22 35-45 2-11mm
AWG#26 25-35 1-11mm
AWG#30 15-25 1-11mm

Tip 2: How to fix tinning defects

Problem: No solder adheres to wire

  • Solution: Verify flux level in flux tank. Check flux dipping angle.

Problem: Incomplete solder coverage

  • Solution 1: Increase tinning depth parameter (0.1mm increments)

  • Solution 2: Increase dwell time (0.1 to 0.5 seconds for fine wires)

Problem: Solder wicking up the insulation

  • Solution: For AWG#28 and finer, set dwell time to 0.2-0.3 seconds maximum

Tinning parameter reference:

Wire gauge Dwell time (seconds) Cooling time (seconds)
AWG#18-20 0.8-1.2 0.8-1.0
AWG#22-24 0.5-0.8 0.5-0.7
AWG#26-28 0.3-0.5 0.3-0.5
AWG#30-32 0.1-0.3 0.3-0.4

Tip 3: How to resolve twisting abnormalities

Problem: No twist or very loose twist

  • Solution: Increase partial strip length to 4-6mm. Increase twisting speed to 5-7 (range 1-9).

Problem: Broken strands after twisting

  • Solution: Decrease twisting blade depth by 3-5 points. For AWG#28 and finer, set twisting speed to 3-5.

Problem: Twisted length is inconsistent

  • Solution: Verify wire clamp pressure. Clean clamp surfaces to remove insulation residue.

Tip 4: How to fix terminal crimping defects

Problem: Crimp is off-center

  • Solution: Adjust crimp position offset parameter (range -5.0mm to +5.0mm)

Problem: Insulation crimp is too tight

  • Solution: Decrease crimping depth parameter (reduce by 2-5 points)

Problem: Insulation crimp is too loose

  • Solution: Increase crimping depth parameter (increase by 2-5 points)

Crimp inspection method:
Measure crimp height with a micrometer. Acceptable tolerance is ±0.05mm compared to terminal manufacturer specification.

Tip 5: Daily and weekly maintenance checklist

Daily maintenance (every 8 hours):

Task Time
Remove insulation scraps with compressed air 2 minutes
Clear terminal scrap from collection bin 1 minute
Verify air pressure is 0.5-0.7MPa 30 seconds
Check solder pot and flux levels 2 minutes
Clean touchscreen 30 seconds

Weekly maintenance (every 40 hours):

Task Time
Lubricate ball screws and linear guides (Hiwin rail oil) 5 minutes
Lubricate pneumatic cylinders (Airtac pneumatic oil) 2 minutes
Clean infrared and fiber optic sensors 3 minutes
Inspect stripping blades for wear 5 minutes

Monthly maintenance (every 160 hours):

Task Time
Replace worn stripping blades 10 minutes
Clean electrical cabinet with compressed air 5 minutes
Backup machine parameters to USB drive 2 minutes

Tip 6: Common alarm conditions and responses

Alarm Cause Response
Wire missing Wire reel empty or wire broke Load new reel. Re-thread wire.
Wire knot detected Wire tangled on reel Remove tangle. Cut out twisted section.
Air pressure low Compressor off or air leak Set regulator to 0.6MPa. Check fittings.
Terminal missing Terminal reel empty or jam Load new reel. Clear applicator jam.
Bad rate exceeded Continuous defects Stop. Find root cause. Clear after correction.

Alarm response procedure:

  1. Read alarm message on touchscreen

  2. Press stop button

  3. Correct the root cause

  4. Press alarm reset

  5. Run 5-10 test pieces and verify quality

  6. Resume production
